While all schools in the state of New Jersey can only teach Principles of Home Inspections: Inspections Systems and Standards, NJAHI® IS THE ONLY SCHOOL that teaches the NEW VERSION (Third Edition) created in 2018. This version encompasses thirteen (13) units, compared to the previous version from 2005 taught by the “Other Guys” which included only ten (10) units. We have also added to the course curriculum.

The Home Inspector Certification Program includes a 10-week classroom training course, consisting of three classes per week for a total of 14 hours per week, amounting to 140 hours of classroom instruction. Classes are scheduled on Sundays from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM (7 hours) and on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM (3.5 hours each evening). Attendance at all classroom training sessions is mandatory for students to complete the course.

There are no statistics for EXAM pass/fail ratio. The NJ Department of Education does not keep statistics for any specific EXAM or Private Career School (PCS). The National Home Inspector Exam (NHIE) is a private test administered through an outside company that has no interaction or affiliation with the NJ Department of Education. The only way a school would know its pass/fail rate is if every student that took the NHIE from that school sent their test results to the school

Hands down this is the best school for home inspection. I did a lot of research on different schools, and overall they offered the best price, the best customer service, and the best instruction - you don't usually get it all! They don't just teach the information in the book - they add a lot of first hand knowledge and insight because the owners Nick and Vinny are both still active inspectors (unlike some other schools out there, where some 'teachers' have never even performed a single home inspection before). When you go out for the field inspections, you are going on actual real inspections. Nick, Vinny, and all the other inspectors take the time to point things out to you along the way, as well as provide plenty of tips for running a successful home inspection business - good tools to have, additional services you can offer, dealing with problem clients and Realtors, getting insurance, etc. When you submit your 12 inspection reports that you need to do, they provide you with plenty of constructive feedback so when you start doing them for real you know what the heck you're doing. They are always available to answer questions and they even give out their own personal cell phone numbers! They are truly invested in helping you succeed! The other school I was considering didn't even pick up their phone or call me back when I called to find out more information.

Nick and Vin are true professionals who put the time and effort into classes and covered material to ensure students of the best opportunity to pass the National Exam. I passed the exam and felt extremely confident and comfortable because of the knowledge provided by NJAHI instructors. They also have a mentorship program included with the cost of tuition that allows you to complete the 40 hours of field work necessary to get your NJ license. They have 7+ mentors and are continually adding new ones to allow more flexibility for students to schedule inspections and gain different perspectives. I would like to state that I stand behind NJAHI. I believe their program is second to none. Their curriculum is fresh and up to date and was presented extremely well. I would also like to state the instructors were very professional and prepared for each class, they were also very knowledgeable. When I completed my course I felt well prepared to go and take the National Home Inspector Exam which I was and passed with a high score on my first attempt. There were several options when I was looking for home inspection programs in New Jersey. After an exhaustive search The New Jersey Academy of Home Inspectors school was a clear winner. Their prices couldn't be matched and service was outstanding. Any issues I had along the way I would have a response sometimes within a few minutes. WIth COVID, classes were offered in person and via Zoom. I was skeptical about Zoom classes but this proved to be a great way to learn the material. The classes are inclusive and students interact with each other and the instructors have developed an online class that keeps you engaged while still giving you the "in class" feel. The real difference was when it came to the field mentoring portion of the course. Being on site with the instructors from the school or inspectors they work with proved to be invaluable. Thankfully their professionalism and expertise taught me what I needed to know and I am now licensed, but if I had to do it again they would be the first School I called.

Nick and Vinny are phenomenal. I just finished this class and was thoroughly impressed with depth of information that is taught over the course of ten weeks. I was particularly impressed with the level of professionalism, quality class discussion, and most of all, the effort put forth by Nick and Vinny to ensure that each student has the tools and resources needed to succeed in class, as well as after graduation as they begin their careers in home inspection. You need 180 hours to become a licensed NJ home inspector, I wouldn't spend those hours anywhere but here!
